Finding the Perfect Stitch
Like many of you, I have always loved the rhythm of creating. But when I discovered the world of needlepoint, everything clicked—one happy stitch at a time! It became my favorite way to unwind, express my creativity, and make beautiful art.
But I quickly noticed a little problem here in Alaska. While there are incredible communities for quilting and cross-stitch, premium needlepoint supplies—especially hand-painted canvases are so hard to find. It felt like local makers were missing out on a beautiful, relaxing craft.
That is why I started North Country Needlepoint! 🏔️✨
Small Batches, Painted with Love
My goal is to bring a thriving needlepoint community right here to Alaska and to offer hand painted canvases designed here in Alaska. To bridge the gap, I am personally hand-painting every single original, custom North Country Needlepoint design!
Because there is a nationwide canvas shortage and I am painting these myself, the North Country Needlepoint Originals are currently available in very limited, exclusive small batches. I will be offering small amounts for sale while I work hard behind the scenes. A full, expanded original inventory will be ready to burst onto the scene around springtime once the painting service catches up! I do use some Zweigart deluxe mono canvas but until the national wholesale supply is restocked I am also using a quality cotton mono deluxe canvas made in Europe and distributed by Aidalux. Frankly, while it may not be Zweigart, it is good quality.
In the meantime, I also curated a gorgeous and fun collection of premium canvases from talented nationwide artists to keep your needles busy. This section of the store will not be around forever but I wanted to have something to offer while I build the NCN collection.
💖 Stitching with Purpose: Cubes for a Cause
I strongly believe in using this creative passion to give back to the world. That is why I am so proud to share the Cubes for a Cause Initiative! (Don’t worry I have set aside plenty of canvas to paint for the cause. :)
This special collection features adorable, hand-painted needlepoint cube charm canvases. They are incredibly fun to stitch, and the collection is deeply inspired by missions close to my heart. Through philanthropic budgeting, North Country Needlepoint proudly supports vital organizations like:
- World Central Kitchen: Providing frontline disaster food relief to communities in crisis.
- Pets for Vets®: Training loving veteran service dogs.
It is my way of helping the community amplify, honor, and celebrate these incredible life-changing causes through the art of needlepoint!
Exciting Things on the Horizon!
Getting started with needlepoint is easy, and there is so much fun planned for the upcoming seasons:
- 🍂 This Fall: I am almost fully confirmed for a local pop-up venue! Get ready to see the canvases in person. Word on the street is I am the only needlepoint seller and designer here in Alaska. That’s one reason I am so excited to start the pop-ups this fall.
- ❄️ This Winter: I am setting up beginner-friendly classes and workshops to teach you all the foundational stitches in a cozy setting. Look for announcements this fall.
- 🌸 This Spring: Look out for the full, expanded collection of original North Country Needlepoint designs!
